Good things always happen over coffee

“Gyebaleko…” is a common greeting in many towns in Uganda. It means “you’re doing good” or “well done” and is sometimes shortened to “Gyebale” which became Jebale (Jay Ba Lay) in English. We love the double meaning that speaks to the quality of our products and the impact we will have in our communities.

We work as closely as we can with the farmers. In many cases we have close personal relationships with our key farmer partners In Uganda. We always purchase direct from the farmers at fair price, above market pricing to help them provide for their families sustainably with our long-term trusted collaboration.

Once we source our single origin coffee cherries from the farmer it has to be pulped, washed and dried (depending on method), then milled before shipping. We take great care in how our coffee is processed to ensure the quality cherries turn into quality green beans that are carefully roasted in small batches on its way to your cup.

In addition to our focus on fair pay to the farmers, Jebale will give back to the communities where we purchase our coffees and where we roast. This connection is reflected in our logo with the plant representing the farmer, the coffee bean representing the roaster with arc showing the connection we are building between these communities.
